One is the anxiety of how to say? – The fear of evaluation.
Second is an anxiety of what is an appropriate topic to speak about? – The fear of appearing stupid.
Let’s focus on choosing a speech topic.
Speech topics are all around us. Certain topics appear more appealing to the speaker than others. Choose a topic that is most appealing to you.
SOURCES FOR SPEECH TOPICS
You can speak out of your personal expertise. Every Toastmasters member has an above average education and has some area of expertise. Every member has some knowledge and expertise to offer and share.
Speaking in response to your environment. The sources for speeches are triggered by the environment.
- Social sources – Listen to other peoples conversations: what is the current topic of interest?
- Experiential – Experiment with new things in your own life. What did you find or learn?
- Events – What are the current events dominate the news?
