STATINS MAY BE CANCER RETARDANTS

Cholesterol lowering agents known commonly as statins are used widely to reduce the incidence of atherosclerotic vascular heart disease.  The statins reduce the “bad cholesterol”, known as LDL-C and increase lightly the blood levels of the “good cholesterol’ HDL-C.  The first product Mevacor (lovastatin) was introduced in 1987.  Since then several much more effective statins were released for clinical use.  Known among them are simvastatin (Zocor), atorvastatin (Lipitor) and Rosuvastatin (Crestor).

In 2005 a scientific report appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine showing that use of a statin reduces colon cancer risk by 47 percent.

About a year ago a study published in the Journal Cancer showed that men taking statins may be 30 percent less likely to experience a recurrence of prostatic cancer.

Recently a new study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine (Nov 7, 2012).  This study was conducted among Danish cancer patients shows that patients taking statins have a lower risk of premature death from cancer.  Their risk of death from cancer was reduced by 15 percent.  This risk reduction is seemingly very modest, but traditional chemotherapy reduces the risk of dying only by a similar 15 percent.

It is thought that the statins work against critical cellular functions that control tumor initiation, tumor growth and metastatic cancer spread.

It is estimated that 15 million Americans are taking statins for control of increased cholesterol levels in order to prevent heart disease and strokes.  During the recent years there has been a continuous trend in reduction of cancer because of early detection (like colonoscopies and mammograms) and cancer prevention secondary to reduction in cigarettes smoking.

I find it tempting to speculate that the increasing use of statins has indirectly contributed to the gradual reduction in cancer mortality and the slow rise in the population’s average life span.

Should you be taking a statin medication?   Ask your medical health practitioner this question.

A DOG, A HORSE AND THE PRESIDENCY

Romney lost his bid for the presidency by the faults and weaknesses of his personality.  It had nothing to do with ideology.  Not much to do with economic plans, nor the federal budget shortfall.  Granted he is a good businessman.

His personality was revealed when he expressed his real feelings.  The voting folks were uneasy with him as a human being.

  • He treated his dog inhumanely. Could he treat his constituents any better?
  • He used every lawyerly esoteric method to reduce his income tax liability.  The real details of his tax returns remain shrouded in mystery.
  • He demonstrated underlying emotions of disdain towards 47 percent of the voting electorate who are “government dependents” (and do not pay taxes?).
  • His attitude towards working women (“binders of women”), and women’s health hurt him among 51 percent of the voting electorate.

Lastly, raising dogs is more popular among the electorate than breeding race horses.

There is more to be said about the differences between the two candidates for the president – living with your mother-in-law in the same household is one little unadvertised virtue that Obama has over Romney.

YOUR BUCKET LIST

A Bucket List is an entertaining way to enjoy life.

The term Bucket List was made popular by the 2007 movie The Bucket List…  (With Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman).  It consists of a list of things a person wants to accomplish before he or she passes away.  Commonly the items are said to be fun things to do or experience.  You can decide to do serious things too.  You can get a degree, or run for elected public office…   Fun stuff usually involves travel to exotic destinations, attending the World Series, meeting a celebrity, conducting an orchestra or skiing in the Himalayas.

The beauty of a Bucket List is that you don’t have to worry how to accomplish or experience the items on your list.  The implementation is left for the Law of Attraction to actually manifest.  A Bucket List proves the effectiveness of the Law of Attraction and how it works.

You must do one thing yourself – you must write your own Bucket List.  You can’t have it done for you by others…

Here are three ‘how to do’ tips:
1. Take the time and write down on paper your Bucket List.  Date it.  Your list can have as many items as you wish.  There are no trivial goals.  Go for it.  If a goal seems expensive or complicated or improbable still write it down.  The Universe has its own infinite sources to make it happen.  Save your list.

2. Share with your friends and family any items that are on your Bucket List.  It’s recommended that you share it with strangers too.  Research your wish on the internet and follow your gut feeling if you are inspired to take action.  Just do it.

3. Return to your Bucket List every six months or so to mark a “V” on items that already manifested.

Note: Enjoy the fun of the process.  In my upcoming book “The Master Attractor” you will find a thorough explanation why the Bucket List tends to self-fulfill its contents.  Until then dig into my blog under the category “Law of Attraction” and catch many hints on how the Bucket List utilizes the Law of Attraction to manifest: www.mandylender.wordpress.com .

THREE PREDICATES OF THE LAW OF ATTRACTION

Three predicates to remember about the Law of Attraction.

First – the Law of Attraction is involuntary and incessantly creating.

It happens all the time in the human mind.  We humans always think; one way or another, good or bad, consciously or unconsciously, while we are awake or during our sleep.  We make ceaseless mental selections for good or for bad that manifest in our lives.

Second – the Law of attraction creates and manifests in our reality with minimal time delays.

If there seems to be a time gap from mental conception to empiric manifestation, it is caused by our mental doubts and disbeliefs.  Quoting William Shakespeare: “Our doubts are traitors that make lose the good we are fearing to attempt.”  Take note that the concept of delay is a relative time-concept.  It is a matter of human perception of time.  A delay of 100 years is a tiny blip in the chronology of our green and blue planet Earth, or in the chronology of the universe.

Third – the process of creation and manifestation is effortless.

Indeed in theory it is effortless.  If manifestation comes about with difficulties and efforts it is because we hold antagonistic thoughts and doubts towards the goal, the intent or the outcome.  The doubts and mixed feelings exert the slowing brakes on the process of attraction of the components that are required for manifestation.

THAT WHICH IS SPIRITUAL – MATERIALIZES

I went to hear Esther Hicks during her workshop last Saturday in Oakbrook, Illinois with a curious anticipation: What new ideas will she present (speaking for “Abraham”)?

I left the morning session pleasantly satisfied.  She presented new angles around her main concept of the Law of Attraction.

One of them is the bold statement:

“That which is spiritual – materializes”.

This is a bold rephrasing of older statements made by others who preceded her: “Thoughts are things”, and “We become what we think about.”

Thoughts are spiritual entities.  “Spiritual” deals with non-material reality.  Note that in the last sentence the sequence of the words is non-material and following it the word reality.  Consequently is reality is real, even if it’s non-material.

Spiritual practices involve prayer, meditation, or contemplation.

I like this short, irrevocable, factual statement:

“That which is spiritual – materializes”.

YOUR SHARP MEMORY – HOW TO KEEP IT

When you find yourself forgetting things, appointments, or names, you start wondering, particularly if you hit your sixtieth birthday:  “Is it dementia? Is it Alzheimer’s”?

The good news is that there are a dozen of other more likely causes of forgetfulness than serious incurable memory deficiency.   Most of them initiated by you…, and therefore can be controlled by you!  Your memory can be improved by you.  A better memory is an acquired mindset.

Let’s start with the banal question: “How much did you have to drink last night.  I mean in Absolut terms?”  Here is one reason for a transient memory deficiency.   This in and by itself should relieve your anxiety.  And yes, anxiety caused by various personal reasons adds to stress which in turn causes instances of temporary memory gap.

Stress.  Stress at the workplace – too many assignments.  Stress at home.  Stress from slow business.  Stress causes memory lapse because of emotional mental overload.  Stressful conditions prompt the brain to calm its mental faculties in order to avoid mental exhaustion.   The brain is efficient and self-preserving – it dials down the memory function and reduces stress.  In fact any mental tension will reduce memory.

#    #    #

What to do?  Well, recover from your last night binge.  Drink lots of fluids – water is always good.  Make sure to provide your brain with multivitamins and minerals.
If still not satisfied have a healthcare professional check your blood pressure, check your blood sugar, check your thyroid functions.  More complex tests if needed can even check your brain’s blood circulation.

#    #    #

But before you rush to expensive medical tests here are more things you can do.

Talk to a psychological counselor who will assists you with identifying your causes of stress.  Depression may be? Frustrating ED?  Sh, sh. Nobody knows; not even you, until somebody asks you…

You want to be as sharp as you can be.  Cut off the tranquilizers and sleeping pills you may be taking.  Zombies have memory deficit.

While you wait for appointments and medical tests, here is more that you can do.

Exercise.  Be sure to walk 30 minutes every day.  You may skip out door walking if it rains but you can walk in the mall.

Company.   Meet with friends and have a good chat.  You’ll re-discover that most people forget from time to time, even if they are in their thirties…

Solve word puzzles, Sudoku puzzles, play chess or play cards.  My father-in-law was a chess player and avid word-puzzles solver.  His mind was sharp till he died at ninety-four from cancer.

Write it down!

Get into the habit of writing down your important stuff and daily tasks – those “Thing to do lists”!   There is a reason why running written lists and “lists of lists” work magic on improving our memory.   The act of physical writing recruits and involves more of the brain’s motor neurons in addition to the existing memory retaining neuronal circuits.  The result is that by writing you develop richer and greater neuron-synaptic circles that re-enforce your memory power.

One more thing: re-write your lists.  When you do that your thoughts will manifest into reality.

Now, go grab a paper and a pen and re-list the recommendations in this blog.

There are some negative things you really want to forget.

Forgive.  Forgive wherever you can.  As you forgive you forget painful negative thoughts that occupy your mind.  Forget Dr. Alois Alzheimer.  He died in 1915.

THE SELF-PRESERVING LAW OF ATTRACTION

Here is a bold concept to ponder: The Law of Attraction is selfish.

This is a concept you will want to argue.  You may want to argue for it, or you may want to argue against it.  But argue you will.  You cannot stay neutral.

The Law of Attraction is selfish in that it acts in the manner it acts and by doing so it preserves itself.

You must maintain an open mind to understand the statements above.

The argument is that the Law of Attraction is selfish.  Whatever the products of the Law of Attraction are – the preponderance of the results are almost always in favor of the initial expected manifestation.   If the manifestation is delayed, it is because the thinker harbored a doubt or was confused while conceiving the desired outcome.  Hence – the Law of Attraction is practically always right.

Since the preponderance of outcomes are in favor of the Law of Attraction manifesting what was asked of it, consequently the Law of Attraction sooner or later ends up in the winning side of a pair of choices – manifest or null.  On the long run folks who think and act in alignment with the Law of Attraction score more “wins” (manifesting their desired objectives) than nulls.

If persons’ series of manifested objectives are material then they are materially wealthier than the average.  If their manifested objectives are intangible then they are greater and wealthier in wisdom.  When peoples’ desired objective is health and longevity, they learn and find ways and means to attract health and live a longer life span.

The selfish bias of the Law of Attraction is discernible as the winning survivors live longer, co-create more and propagate the Law of Attraction as a by-product during their productive lifetime.  Compelling evidence is demonstrated in the lives of the teachers of the Law of Attraction, some of whom made great fortunes by propagating the persuasive awareness of the Law of Attraction.

This self-preserving nature of the Law of Attraction explains why it was noted by people three millennia ago.

Once you feel in agreement with the explanation above you will also realize how the Law of Attraction is selfishly self-preserving by favoring those folks who live in alignment with its framework.

Importantly, the Law of Attraction provides evolutionary advantage to those persons who innately understood how to benefit from it.

SIR LAURENCE OLIVIER: THE WORKMAN

SIR LAURENCE OLIVIER: THE WORKMAN

The legendary British actor, Sir Laurence Olivier (1907-1989) was considered a genius.  He once said:

I’d like people to remember me for a diligent expert workman. I think a poet is a workman. I think Shakespeare was a workman. And God’s a workman. I don’t think there’s anything better than a workman. “
I fully agree that the life-time work of Olivier could be considered divine.  Although I am not convinced that he was so close to God – one notch below William Shakespeare.  His third wife the actress Dame Joan Ann Plowright opined: “If a man is touched by genius, he is not an ordinary person.  He doesn’t lead an ordinary life.  He has extremes of behaviour which you understand and you just find a way not to be swept overboard by his demons.”

Indeed Sir Laurence listed examples of creative “workman” persons as himself and Shakespeare.  Then he mentioned the obvious – the source of all creativity – God.  Because of his closeness to poets and playwrights he mentioned Shakespeare, both a poet and playwright.

Men and women of all trades and arts are capable of creativity, they are co-creators indisputably – co-creators.

Take the genius composers of music:  Bach, Beethoven and Brahms who were genius creators – workmen.  How about painters like Picasso and architects like Erich Mendelsohn, Frank Lloyd Wright and Daniel Burnham (FLW created in my own neighborhood).

Two points:

Any “workman” as Sir Laurence referred to is a co-creator, be it a carpenter or an executive chef.

Better yet, we are all born with the gift to align our life with the Law of Attraction.  If we do so, we can create, we can co-create, we can pro-create.  All we need to do is recognize that this gift is within us and align with it for the betterment of ourselves and mankind.

DIVIDENDS PAYABLE NOW OR DEFERRED

DIVIDENDS PAYABLE NOW OR DEFERRED

Gloria Steinem made this thoughtful observation:
“It’s an incredible con job when you think about it, to believe something now in exchange for something after death. Even corporations with their reward systems don’t try to make it posthumous.”

The question that remains unanswered is who would you trust?

As a holder of a corporate stock certificate do you want your dividend paid out to you quarterly, or should your dividend payment be deferred until your death certificate is issued?

Consider this: do you trust a capitalistic corporation such as an oil company to issue your reward – quarterly dividend – now, or do you trust organized religion to pay you after your death?

Ponder this: any military-industrial complex corporation may go bankrupt on very rare occasion.  However, organized religions seem to never go defunct.  Organized religion always takes care of itself first to ensure its continuity.  Its existence is the trust fund for your future rewards set aside.  The capitalistic corporation must meet its obligations to its shareholders in the present quarter while you can collect its dividend and enjoy its fruits in the now.

How about the tax liability?  Organized religions pay no taxes.  Corporations employ the best minds to avoid paying taxes under the existing law.  When needed the corporations hire the most influential lobbyists to affect a change of legislation that relieves it from the tax liability.  More often than not the capitalistic corporations’ legislative agenda becomes law.

One more thing: both corporations and organized religion are excelling at marketing their products and services to the public.   But you have to admit that organized religion does a much better selling job than say, the military-industrial complex industry.

P.S. Gloria Steinem was described as “A Woman Like No Other“, on the New York Times (March 18, 2012).
